Lungenkrebszentrum:

In 2010 hatten wir gemeinsam mit der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen das sogenannte Lungentumorzentrum gegründet und wurden erstmals in 2014 als Lungenkrebszentrum zertifiziert. Seit dem wurden wir in jährlichen Audits überprüft, und uns wurde wiederholt die herausragende Stellung der Lungenfachklinik Immenhausen in der Diagnostik und Therapie des Lungenkarzinoms bescheinigt, ja sogar, dass wir „Spitzenmedizin“ leisten.

Mit dem Ende des Jahres 2024 haben wir unsere Kooperation mit der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen aufgekündigt und zum 01. Januar 2025 das Lungenkrebszentrum Nordhessen gemeinsam mit dem Klinikum Kassel gegründet. Die Zertifizierung als Lungenkrebszentrum durch die Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft DKG setzt eine sehr intensive und personell gut ausgestattete Zusammenarbeit von spezialisierten ÄrztInnen und Pflegepersonal mit weiteren wichtigen Disziplinen wie Psychoonkologie, Palliativmedizin, Physiotherapie, Seelsorge, Raucherentwöhnung, und Sozialdienst  voraus. 

Seit vielen Jahren besetzen wir Schlüsselpositionen großzügig mit bestens weitergebildetem Personal und können so die strengen Personalvorgaben des Zertifikats nicht nur erfüllen, sondern immer wieder übertreffen. Wir investieren laufend in modernste Techniken, neueste Geräteausstattung und Personalweiterbildung, um Ihnen auch in Zukunft die bestmögliche Untersuchungs- und Behandlungsmethoden anbieten zu können.

Patienten:

Stehen bei uns im Mittelpunkt. Die Diagnose Lungenkrebs muss nicht das Ende des Lebens oder aller Hoffnungen sein. Gemeinsam mit Ihnen und Ihren Angehörigen wollen wir einen Weg finden, mit der Diagnose Lungenkrebs weiter zu leben. 

 
Diagnostik:

Verlassen Sie sich auf unser großes Team mit jahrelanger Erfahrung. Alle Methoden, die erforderlich sind, um Lungenkrebs rasch und sicher zu diagnostizieren, wenden wir seit Jahren in hoher Zahl an. 

Besondere Expertise besteht bei uns in der bronchoskopischen Ultraschalluntersuchung (EBUS) mit jährlich fast tausend Untersuchungen. Erst 2015 konnte in einer sehr hochrangigen Veröffentlichung gezeigt werden, dass Patienten bei denen eine bronchoskopische Ultraschalluntersuchung als erste Untersuchung durchgeführt wurde, doppelt so lange leben, wie Patienten, die diese Untersuchung nicht erhielten (1).

Als Lungenfachärzte können wir Ihnen darüber hinaus oft Hilfe anbieten, die nur spezialisierte Lungenärzte überhaupt erlernt haben wie bronchoskopische Erweiterungen der Bronchien mit Laser, Argon-Plasma-Beamer  oder Stents oder die Verödung von nachlaufender Flüssigkeit im Rippenfellspalt durch Talkum (Pleurodese).       

Durch zytologische Untersuchungen, die noch am Tag der Bronchoskopie in unserem Haus ausgewertet werden, beschleunigen wir die Diagnostik weiter. Auch hier investieren wir laufend in neue Mikroskope und Fotodokumentationstechnik.

Schnellstmöglich eine exakte Diagnose zu stellen ist extrem wichtig, um so rasch wie möglich eine individuell angepasste Therapie planen zu können. 

Therapie:

Wir behandeln Ihren Lungenkrebs nicht nebenbei, neben einer Fülle von anderen Krebserkrankungen, sondern haben ein hochspezialisiertes Team von Behandlern, dies sich ausschließlich um Lungen- und Rippenfellkrebs kümmern. 

Individuell maßgeschneiderte Therapiekonzepte entwickeln wir gemeinsam mit allen Behandlern im Rahmen der  Tumorkonferenzen, die mindestens einmal wöchentlich stattfinden. 

Wenn möglich streben wir an, dass der Tumor operativ entfernt und Sie als Patient damit geheilt werden können. Dies erfordert eine rasche und umfassende Diagnostik sowohl um zu erkennen, dass der Krebs komplett entfernt werden kann, als auch dass wir Ihnen mit Ihrer jeweiligen Lungenfunktion und Ihren Begleiterkrankungen durch die Entfernung eines Teils der Lunge nicht zu sehr schaden. Dabei ist auch die thoraxchirurgische Expertise in patientenschonenden Verfahren von großer Bedeutung (s. Thoraxchirurgie GNH Klinikum Kassel: uniportale VATS).

Bei einigen Tumoren und bei lokal fortgeschrittenen Tumoren kann auch eine Strahlentherapie in der Regel kombiniert mit einer Chemotherapie eine Krebserkrankung heilen. Hier haben wir als mit Abstand größtes deutsches Zentrum an einer der größten Studien zur simultanen Behandlung von Lungenkrebs mit Strahlen- und Chemotherapie teilgenommen und dies gemeinsam mit unseren Kollegen auch veröffentlicht (zur Studie).

Sie können sich also auf unser eingespieltes Team und unsere Erfahrung auch für diese Therapieform verlassen. 

Hat ihr Lungenkrebs bereits „gestreut“ (Metastasen gebildet) wird eine medikamentöse Tumortherapie erforderlich. Hier hat sich in den letzten Jahren die Behandlung u.a. durch Studien, die an unserem Haus mit durchgeführt wurden deutlich verändert. Bei den meisten metastasierten Lungenkarzinomen wird heute in der Erst- und Zweitlinientherapie eine Immuntherapie alleine oder gemeinsam mit Chemotherapie eingesetzt. Diese heute zugelassenen Immuntherapien mit sogenannten Checkpointinhibitoren wurden zum Teil maßgeblich an unserem Haus mit entwickelt und im Rahmen von Studien untersucht (s. u.  Literaturverzeichnis).

2018 wurde die Immuntherapie mit Checkpointinhibitoren mit dem Nobelpreis für Medizin ausgezeichnet.  
 

Studien:

Die medizinische Wissenschaft steht nicht still, sondern entwickelt sich dynamisch weiter. Wir nehmen seit vielen Jahren erfolgreich an zahlreichen klinischen Studien teil bei denen noch nicht zugelassene, aber uns hoffnungsvoll erscheinende Medikamente getestet werden. Im Rahmen von klinischen Studien können wir heute bereits einigen Patienten die Medizin von morgen anbieten. (Derzeit laufende Studien.) 

Immuntherapie:

Unser Studienschwerpunkt ist seit 2007 die Entwicklung und Weiterentwicklung der Immuntherapie. Viele bedeutende Studien auf diesem Gebiet wurden mit unserer Hilfe maßgeblich mit durchgeführt und veröffentlicht (Publikationen).

Dies erfordert ein spezialisiertes und engagiertes Team aus Ärzten und Studienschwestern, das wir in den vergangenen Jahren Immer weiter vergrößert haben. Chefarzt Prof. Stefan Andreas und Oberarzt PD Dr. Achim Rittmeyer sind Mitglieder im renommierten DZL (Deutsches Zentrum für Lungenforschung).

Gezielte Tumortherpie ("Targeted therapy"):

Heutzutage untersuchen wir die meisten Lungenkarzinome, ob besondere Mutationen vorliegen, die evtl. mit zielgerichteten Medikamenten wie Tabletten behandelt werden können. Hierzu setzen wir das modernste und empflindlichste Verfahren, das sogenannte "next generation sequencing" (NGS) ein, das eine ganze Reihe dieser Mutationen auf einmal nachweisen kann. Hierzu arbeiten wir mit dem renommierten UGMLC (University Giessen Marburg Lung Cancer Center) zusammen und sind Kooperationspartner des Netzwerks genomische Medizin (nNGM).
